Better Homes and Gardens
Classic Home Collection
A distinctly American Experience
I like to blend in today’s new furniture with my family’s heirloom antiques. This collection from Better Homes and Garden can do just that. Classic Home is rooted in Mediterranean styling filtered through a distinctly american experience. Substantial in scale with clean lines that are layered, but not ornate, Classic Home is confident in it’s cultured European tradition. A vintage cherry finish is burnished and lightly distressed. Architectural molding are masterfully layered, creating a commanding sense of depth and character.
Come visit us at Tyndall Furniture Galleries to see the Classic Mantle Bedroom set, the Pedestal Renaissance Dining Table with perimeter leaves (from 56” round to 76” round) and the beautiful Sideboard. To complete the collection Tyndall shows the Living room tables with the lighted entertainment console. I like that it’s bold and substantial, but not fussy or overly ornate. Just one look confirms that this is a collection that exudes old world luxury. My favorite Classic Home pieces are the Renaissance Dining Table and the Classic Accent Chest.
Modern Expressions offers a completely different design aesthetic—one that’s more clean and streamlined. Elegant but not too formal, the allure of this group is its viewpoint: cool, sexy and urban. I am drawn to the Executive Writing Desk and the Round End Table. Furniture in this contemporary group feature strong lines, geometric curves and dark Graphite finishes. Perfectly appointed with stunning hardware in bright nickel, furnishings feature design elements such as splayed legs, plinth bases, and gently rounded beading. Overall, Modern Expressions is sophisticated and intriguing with an eye on the future and a nod to mid-century modern design. I can see this design in an uptown loft as well as a country club home.
For my home, my heart is set on the American Cottage collection. It’s just the right blend of old and new, classic and comfortable. A touch of the past is referenced in most every piece without feeling old or dated. I love the way the designs and finishes mix and match to give the feeling the group was collected over time. The combination of natural wood finish and a Gardenia white painted finish gives these pieces a relaxed look. And the bead board and shutter elements are fresh and classic. When it comes to a wish list from this collection, it might be faster to start with what I don’t want. But my all-time faves are the Shutter Bed, the Parlor Table, the Garden Chest and the Utility Cabinet. I would use the Parlor table as a nightstand in white in my bedroom and as an end table in blue in the den. The Garden chest will look lovely in my foyer and it will be hard to decide which of many rooms gets the Utility Cabinet.
